Drop-Away Pool & Terrace, Biot

French Gardens

Period: May 2014 - Aug 2014

Client: Davis

Our client wanted to create a modern effect around a dated pool and tie it all together with the surrounding buildings. Our plan introduced clean lines and a series of interlinking steps. There were some well-established palm trees which we transplanted and our feature plant was an old cycas revoluta which worked in harmony with our newly created steps. We built a modern pool house with supporting pillars from concrete, rendered and painted.

Lighting was a very important part of the plan and all services needed to be installed prior to building. We used travertine paving around the pool side and an IPE hard wood decking in the seating areas and raised platform to the pool house. A Japanese maple was planted to create contrast between the pool house and swimming pool area.

"We chose Lotus Landscape Design after reviewing and visiting other work that Lotus had executed. The work throughout the projects was collaborative in nature, following very responsive meetings at each stage, particularly the design phase which was important for the projects of our scope."
